ADVERTISING of 24 new paramedic positions in Rural Ambulance Victoria’s Hume region began on Saturday.
The advertising is part of a major recruitment drive by RAV to attract 100 new paramedics across rural and regional Victoria and a national and international campaign will follow mid-year.
Hume’s allocation of 24 additional paramedics comprises 18 in central Hume and three each in lower and upper Hume.
RAV Hume regional general manager, Garry Cook, said the recruitment will build on the 79 paramedics who will have come on board by the end of this financial year.
"The recruitment of 100 more paramedics will help RAV deliver the best possible patient care to regional and rural Victorians," Mr Cook said.
RAV will begin interviewing candidates next month.
"We’ve already received strong interest in the positions and rural and regional residents can expect the paramedics to start working in their communities within the next 12 months."
