A goat in South Carolina jumped off a 50-foot bridge, prompting a major rescue effort involving firemen, animal rescue officers, sheriff's deputies and two boats. "The goat was headed toward the beach; cars were headed toward the toll booths," the Island Packet newspaper notes. Smart goat, that's what we say. It was eventually hauled from the river and placed on a stretcher. Good thing they have pictures of the muddy beast after it was pulled from the raging river.
