WINE and food-focused festivals, Trails, Tastings and Tales and Weekend Fit For A King do not appear to have been affected in a major way by rising petrol prices and home mortgage rates.
The Queen’s Birthday weekend events reported a successful three days of visitors keen to enjoy their regions’ fare.
One of the organisers of Glenrowan region’s Trails, Tastings and Tales, Maxine Morrison, said of particular note was the visitor support coming from large regional centres such as Shepparton, Wodonga and Bendigo and the continued support coming from Wangaratta residents.
"From the wineries I’ve spoken to there seems to have been increased numbers and things went well for the other wineries," Ms Morrison said.
"All in all Glenrowan had a fabulous festival and we can’t wait for next year."
Ms Morrison said this year’s festival saw the twilight walking tour attract a lot of interest and the festival dinner at Shelter Fine Food and Wine in Wangaratta turn out to be a sell-out.
