An English teacher at Foxborough High School has been arrested on charges of possessing child pornography.

Federal prosecutors say 45-year-old Gregg Woodward of Milford made an initial appearance in court on Monday and is scheduled to return on Wednesday for a probable cause and detention hearing.

Authorities allege that Woodward bought access to at least two Web sites last year that distribute child pornography.

schools Superintendent Chris Martes sent a message home with high school students saying Woodward has been suspended without pay and that there is no evidence that students were involved.

Woodward faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison if convicted.
