Bacterial vaginosis is an inflammation of the vagina and is considered the most common cause of vaginal infection. It affects many women of all ages, but is most common in women during the child bearing age. Although not one simple cause has been linked to this type of vaginitis, it is caused by an imbalance of natural bacteria that lives in the vagina.
Once there is an overgrowth of bacteria, it can lead to such symptoms as a foul odor from vaginal discharge, as well as vaginal discharge being a milky white color, or even sometimes yellow or a thin gray.
