MILAWA captain Luke O’Keefe is excited about running out for his first match of the year against Greta on Saturday, after his side had a resounding 105-point win over Glenrowan in round one of Ovens and King football.
"The boys played some great footy last week," O’Keefe - who missed the match due to suspension - said.
"It sets us up for a successful year, no doubt.
"But we won’t go getting too far ahead of ourselves just yet - it’s only one match."
After finishing in sixth position last year and missing the finals, the Demons recruited heavily over the off season, picking up Mick Newton and Evan Laverty from King Valley, as well as a host of players from Wangaratta’s two Ovens and Murray clubs.
Newton and Laverty have taken up the positions of coach and assistant coach, in a move O’Keefe said was pivotal for the club to move forward.
"Those two have been fantastic additions at the club," O’Keefe said.
