A WANGARATTA businessman, who had hoped he no longer remained a person of interest in a double murder, has told a police corruption hearing that he is sick of being hounded by investigators.

Former Detective Sergeant Paul Dale, appearing before an Office of Police Integrity inquiry this week, said he believed his phone had been intercepted by police since about December 2003 and that’s the way he has to live his life.

"You get sick of having to live your life knowing you’re being monitored every step you take - your car, your house, your phone," he told the hearing.

The inquiry was probing whether police officers interfered with the Petra taskforce investigation into the murders of corruption informer Terence Hodson, and his wife Christine - executed in their Kew home in 2004.

Mr Dale told the inquiry he was hoping he was no longer a person of interest.

"I thought the square peg that doesn’t fit into the round hole had finally moved on from, but clearly not," he said.
