AT the same time as a six per cent rate rise, Rural City of Wangaratta residents will be slugged with increased fees and charges for council services.

More significant changes have been seen in services accessed by some of the most vulnerable residents in the local community, including the elderly, disabled and young families.

Among the changes are Meals on Wheels costs, which have risen from $6.45 to $6.80, and the Home and Community Care home maintenance service, which has jumped from $9.40 to $9.50 an hour.


"It’s really about just covering the CPI increase and when we sit down as a council to review fees and charges, we’re very mindful about affordability of the community," Cr Rozi Parisotto said.
