gelatine, gelatin, gel n.: a colorless water-soluble glutinous protein obtained from processed animal bone.


Gelatin is water soluable and clear protein derived from a multistep process. It is produced in an endless range of purity and consistency for use in many applications as a base matrix for forming other substances and emulsifications.


Gelatin is a used in producing baked goods, frosting, and gelatin desserts. You can also find geltaine as a base for cosmetic and pharmeceutical products. A good example of gelatin used in the pharmeceutical and health food industry is a the coating on the gel cap style pill.


Pure Gelatin is also a critical element in the production of photography and movie films for consumer and professional markets. When you are sitting in the movie theater watching a film - you can be almost certain that the film running through the projector was coated with Eastman Gelatine.

Gelatin production is closely related to the glue manufacturing process. Glue is actually gauged buy it's 'jellyness'. Eastman Gelatine's current processing facility is actually built on the site of the old 'Upton Glue' factory in Peabody, Massachusetts, and has been producing gelatin for Kodak since 1930.
